Quick update, since this has been sitting at "In Progress" without an explanation. The work on our side is done. What's missing is permission from Apple. iOS only lets an app be your default mail app if Apple grants it a specific permission. Newton had it for years, starting with iOS 14. It disappeared from our account, apparently during a change Apple made to how these permissions are managed. We can't switch it back on ourselves. We've been pushing since July: Apple's request form, developer support, their developer forums, and now their executive team. Newton meets every requirement Apple publishes. We're asking for something we already had, not for an exception. I won't guess at a date, because it's Apple's call. I'll update this post when it moves. Until then, two things help. Tapping an email address inside Newton opens Newton's composer. And long-pressing the Newton icon gives you a Compose shortcut.

Thanks for the update. I was curious why this has been taking a while. Really loving the responsiveness of the team with development and responding to our feedback and requests. I’m excited about the future of Newton. Loved it in the past and glad to see you all keeping it alive. Keep up the great work!
