New mail arrives the moment it lands instead of on a timer, and read receipts tell you which recipient opened it.

Almost any mailbox now works (Desktop, iPhone & Android) — iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail, Zoho, AOL, GMX, your company’s server, or one you run yourself. Add it and it behaves like every other account you have: the same unified inbox, the same swipes, the same snooze, the same scheduled send.

New mail the moment it lands — Other apps check a mailbox like this every few minutes. Newton keeps a live watch on yours and tells your devices the instant something arrives — and the mail itself travels straight between your device and your mail server.

Search across all your accounts at once (Desktop, iPhone & Android) — One search now covers every account instead of one at a time, with results merged newest first. Mail already on your device appears as you type, and search arrives on iPhone and Android for the first time.

An AI writing assistant (Desktop) — Describe the message you want and Newton writes it; describe a change and it rewrites what’s there. Keep giving follow-up instructions, undo whenever you like, and it’ll suggest a subject line if yours is empty.

Act on mail straight from a notification (iPhone) — Archive, mark as read, reply or trash without ever opening Newton, with a preview of the message on the banner. Replies type right into the notification.

Android notifications say what they are again — On some builds, new mail arrived as a contentless “New email” with no sender or subject. Notifications now show who it’s from and what it says, and the archive, mark-read and reply buttons are back.

Sign up with Google or Microsoft — One screen creates your Newton account and connects your mailbox at the same time. Sign in on a new device and all your accounts come back on their own.

Read receipts you can trust — Per-recipient tracking now works on Outlook and on any other mailbox, telling you which individual person opened your email. Everyone on a tracked Outlook email now sees the full recipient list, and your Sent folder keeps a single clean copy.

Nested folders (Desktop, iPhone & Android) — Outlook subfolders and Gmail labels with a “/” in the name now show as a proper tree, and you can create folders inside folders.

Bigger attachments — Send files up to 25MB.

Heads Up

Notification settings moved to your phone and Mac — Newton’s own notification controls (quiet hours, unread-only, sound, badges, previews) have been removed. Your system settings already handle all of this, including Focus and Do Not Disturb, so that’s where you set it now.

Updating on mobile re-downloads your mail — You stay signed in and your accounts come back on their own; your inbox fills in as the download runs.

Three desktop shortcuts changed — Reply-all moved from Shift+R to A, Space is now the only key that selects a row, and Reset Zoom moved to ⌘⇧0 so that ⌘0 can open your all-accounts inbox.

Newton’s original keyboard shortcuts are back — ⌘1–⌘9 open each account’s inbox and ⌘0 opens all of them, plus ⌘F to search, ⌘N to compose, ⌘P to print, ⌘K to insert a link, and A, W and M to reply-all, snooze and move. S and U now work in the mail list too, not just in an open conversation.

Light or dark, your choice — Settings → General now offers System, Light and Dark, so Newton can stay light while your Mac is dark.

Turn off conversation view — Every message becomes its own row, and archive, delete, read, star and move act on just that message.

Every alias, everywhere — Aliases from all your accounts now appear in the From menu, and picking one switches the account so it sends from the right address.

One “move to” menu — The right-click menu and the row hover button now have the same search, pinned labels, nested folders and icons as everywhere else.

A tidier sidebar — Nested parent folders collapse by default and remember how you left them.

Fixes

Mail that went missing — An email sent with a bad timestamp could drop out of your unified inbox entirely, while still showing in that account’s own inbox. Those messages are back where they belong.

Snooze, sorted — Snoozed mail no longer sits in your inbox and in Snoozed at once, deleting a snoozed email cancels the snooze, trashed and spam mail stay out of the Snoozed folder, and snoozed conversations open with their messages in order.

Replies and forwards behave — Replying now answers the last real message in a conversation and reopens your existing draft instead of starting a new one, and forwarded mail stays in its original thread.

Drafts you can count on — Deleting a draft actually deletes it, the sidebar shows how many drafts you have instead of an unread count, and switching the sending account mid-message keeps what you’d written.

Selection and menus — Shift-arrow extends a selection properly, and opening a snooze menu on one row closes the one you left open on another.

Attachments show up — Images embedded in a message render in place instead of being listed as files, and images you pasted in now appear in the attachment list.

Outlook fixes — Sent mail no longer goes missing after sending, read inbox mail no longer vanishes mid-sync, undoing an archive or move puts the message back where it was, and duplicate replies no longer inflate the message count.

Signatures stay put — Editing or deleting a signature no longer touches the wrong account, and two signatures can’t share a name.

Cleaner previews — <, > and other symbols no longer show up as raw code in message previews.

Improvements

Classic or Modern, your call — A new Classic email list under Settings → Appearance drops avatars for flat, full-width rows, with a slim colored bar marking which account each message belongs to in the unified inbox. Your choice follows you to your other devices.

A redesigned thread view (iPhone) — Actions now sit in a floating bar at the bottom where your thumb is, nothing is ever out of reach, and swiping between conversations is smooth with the next one loaded ahead of time.

Less waiting when you have several accounts — They now sync at the same time instead of one after another, quiet accounts check in less often, and whichever account you’re looking at goes first. Scrolling and tapping are smoother throughout.

Emails look right in dark mode — Messages that already have their own dark version are left alone instead of coming out muddy, and light mode only repairs text that would otherwise be invisible.

Quoted replies collapse — Reply history tucks behind a toggle, for mail from Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Proton, Thunderbird and Apple Mail.

One undo bar — Every action now uses the same undo bar, with a floating pill design on iPhone.

Know what was blocked — When Newton blocks tracking pixels, the message header tells you how many.

Sent and Drafts show who you wrote to — Rather than your own name, with bare addresses resolved to the person’s name where Newton knows it.

Closing a draft asks first — Keep editing, save, or discard, instead of guessing — plus an optional confirmation before sending.

Settings, refreshed — Accounts, notifications, Supercharge, templates, filters, signatures and the sync explainer all got a visual pass.

Fixes

Notifications you actually get — Notifications that silently never arrived now get set up and repaired on their own, replying from a notification no longer sends a blank message, and Android notifications are no longer dropped without a trace.

No more phantom notifications — You won’t get a banner for mail you just sent yourself, or for a month-old message out of nowhere.

Moved mail actually moves — Filing mail into another folder now takes it out of the one you moved it from, and the picker only offers folders belonging to that account.

One draft, not two — Editing a draft that had synced from another device updated a second copy instead of the one in front of you. Subject and attachment changes now show up, and an edited draft moves to Today instead of staying filed under its old date.

Compose polish — A recipient you type without pressing return no longer gets dropped, pasted images embed properly on iPhone, and scheduling a send on Android closes the time picker.

Settings that sync — Changes you make on desktop show up on mobile straight away, and removing an account on one device removes it everywhere.

Back from the background — Sync now picks up properly when you return to the app, instead of stalling.

Accounts & Sign-in

Your accounts come back — Signing in on a new device restores all your linked mailboxes automatically, with no re-adding.

Drag to reorder your accounts — In the sidebar or in settings, on desktop and mobile, and the order syncs across your devices.

Safer mailbox links — Signing in on one Newton account can no longer disconnect the same mailbox on another, and disconnecting a mailbox two accounts share no longer breaks it for both.

Collaboration

Shared threads on mobile — See who shared a conversation and who commented right in the list, read the comment and activity history inline, and find shared mail under “Shared with me” and “Shared by me”.

Attachments in shared threads — Files in a thread shared with you can now be opened and downloaded.

Custom snooze times — Set your own wake times under Settings → Supercharge → Snooze, on desktop and mobile, synced across your devices.

Newton follows your clock — 12-hour or 24-hour, matching your system setting, everywhere in the app.
